A tilting crucible furnace holding 1 tonne of molten aluminium is the workhorse of small-scale melting: a melt rate of about 330 kg/h covers 2–3 tonnes of metal per shift. The charge melts inside a silicon carbide graphite crucible, so the metal never touches the combustion gases — the melt stays cleaner than in a reverberatory furnace, and switching alloys does not mean burning out a lining. Pouring is done by tilting the whole furnace body: the ladle or mould sits under the spout and the operator controls the tilt from the panel.

Firing is by natural gas, LPG or diesel — we match the burner to whatever fuel your site already has. The furnace occupies 2.2 × 1.85 × 1.83 m plus a compact control cabinet (600 × 500 × 300 mm) with temperature regulation; a plain concrete slab is enough as a foundation. Two options worth considering: a mobile melt mixer and a degassing unit. If you remelt dross and process scrap, saving on degassing tends to show up later as porosity in the ingots.

The typical buyer scenario: an extrusion plant or small foundry remelts its own profile offcuts, saw scrap and aluminium dross into ingots instead of selling them to a scrap dealer for a fraction of the metal value. Honest about the limits: this is an industrial machine, but still a crucible furnace — the crucible is a wear part and needs replacing after months of service, so order a spare with the furnace. Above roughly 3–4 tonnes of continuous daily melt, a crucible furnace stops making economic sense and a chamber furnace is the better calculation. Sub-1-tonne versions are available for smaller operations.

Crucible or chamber furnace?

Crucible: cleaner melt (no contact with combustion gases), easy alloy changes, lower entry cost — sensible up to roughly 3–4 t of melt per day. Chamber: higher throughput and lower cost per kilo in continuous operation. Send us your planned volume and we will price both.

How often does the crucible need replacing?

The crucible is a consumable — lifetime depends on duty cycle and charge cleanliness, typically many months of shift work. Order a spare with the furnace: shipping one crucible on its own is disproportionately expensive.

What about CE marking?

For this machine the buyer, acting as the importer, formally bears conformity and CE-marking responsibility. We do not promise 'CE included' — instead we supply the manufacturer's technical documentation and state plainly what has to be done before commissioning the furnace in the EU.
