A conventional multi-log billet furnace takes 2–4 hours to heat up from cold. On a three-shift operation that is irrelevant — the furnace never cools down. But if your plant runs 8–10 hours a day, every morning starts with burning gas into thin air before the press extrudes its first profile. The fast heating furnace attacks exactly that problem: room temperature to extrusion temperature in 25–35 minutes.
The design is a compact direct-fired gas furnace with a circulation fan that recirculates hot exhaust back into the chamber — heat that simpler furnaces send up the stack does a second pass here. Fuel is natural gas or LPG only; there is no diesel or electric version, and we will not pretend otherwise. The furnace is built for 6061 and 6063 alloys and frequent material changeovers: with a start-up measured in minutes, switching alloy or billet diameter no longer costs half a production shift.
An optional hot shear (vertical or horizontal) or hot saw with chip collection can be added, just as on the larger multi-log furnaces in our industrial furnace range. The narrow build is deliberate: the furnace fits a standard sea container, with no oversize-cargo surcharges — a real saving at this machine class.
To be honest about the trade-off: at continuous 24/7 output a multi-log furnace still wins on gas per tonne of profile. This aluminum furnace wins where fast start-up, flexibility and a single shift are what matter. Fast furnace or multi-log furnace?
The simple rule: continuous two- or three-shift operation at high volume — multi-log; a single 8–10 hour shift with short runs and frequent alloy changes — fast furnace. Two to four hours of daily heat-up on a big furnace can eat the entire purchase-price difference. Send us your production plan and we will compare gas consumption for both.
Is there an electric or diesel version?
No — this design runs on natural gas or LPG only. If your site has no gas supply, we will say so plainly and propose a different way to feed the press.
